John Otway had been around for a while before he teamed up as a duo with Richard Holgarth in the early 1990's.

After this he formed The Big Band for some gigs. The Big Band are, Richard Holgarth, Murray Torkildsen, Adam Batterbee, Mark Thomas and keyboard player Barry Upton.

In 2002 they got to number 9 in the charts with Bunsen Burner and an appearance on Top Of The Pops.

Johnny Get Angry were formed around the early 90's and were Dave Jack, bass, Krissi Phillipson, drums, Paddy Adams, guitar and vocals,Trudi Groombridge, guitar and vocals, and Claire Klyn on trombone.

They were often to be seen playing The Square and RUBYS nightclub along with other bands such as The Catherine Effect.

Laissez Faire were an early 80's rock band formed by Mick Fisher on vocals, Nick Becker on drums, Jason White on bass, Mike Barrett on guitar and Trevor Oliver.

Nick Becker also drummed for The Pharoahs.

Rock band Legacy were, Stefan Kneist on vocals, Andy Free on keyboards, Lee Higgins on guitar, Steve Ford on bass and ex Easy Action drummer Marc Sampson.

Marc would go on to play with The Change, Tinbox Parade and The Redwoods among many others.

Andy Free would go on to play with The Vaqueros

Legacy entered the Rock Competition in 1982 reaching the finals.

Little Dave quickly became one of the most popular poets of the Harlow Punk scene and built up a large following.

He compared many an event in and around Harlow and presided over the last night of The Square before the bar was closed in the year 2000.

Formed after Dwarf Antidote, Jamie Evans, guitar, Matt Alexander, drums, Dan Smith, bass, and Greg Collins became hardcore punk band Living Nightmare.

MAD CHATEAUX

A prog rock band from the early 80's. Formed after Roadworks split up by Del Priest, guitar/keyboards/vocals, Steve Koenig, guitar, John Sawyer, keyboards, Graham Kirk on bass and Neil McDonald on drums.

Decided against signing a record deal when it was offered as they were all working in proper jobs at the time.

They recently reformed and played a stunning set at The Harlow Bands Family Tree launch Night.

Another Harlow Blues "supergroup" comprising Carl Madjitey on harmonica and vocals, Richard Holgarth on guitar, Adam Batterbee on drums, Mark Thomas on bass and Duncan Lane on keyboards. Madjitey built up a large local following and were often to be seen playing pubs and clubs in and around Harlow in the early to mid 80's.

This was before Richard started Austins Shirts and Between The Lines were playing less gigs.

Mainline were originally Joe Gray on bass, Tom Everett on guitar and vocals and Dan Cooper on drums.

Soon after this they added second guitarist Phil Seager. Joe eventually left to be replaced by Tony Crolla.

Eventually they returned to a three piece line-up of Phil (taking over bass duties) Tom and Dan.

In between playing with his bands Murray has also been playing gigs as a solo artist since the late 80's.

He also played with Richard Holgarth in a duo called Das and Chave. Very popular on the local scene.

Murray teamed up with Carl Madjitey in the 80's/early 90's to co compare the Harlow Rock Contest.
